I wrote and recorded the basic music track for this song back in 1989 on 8-track. I bumped it up to 16-track in 1991 but left it sitting on the shelf for years before I re-discovered it. About a year ago I was going through some of my old tapes, looking for another track when I ran across it and in an instant a song idea formulated itself in my head. Sometimes it just works like that! When I converted the master over to 24-track I "modernized" the original kick and snare by triggering the tracks through my Yamaha PTX8 sound module as I dubbed the master track. Doug Deforest heard the song and demanded to play 6-string bass on it. I wasn't going to argue with him as he's bigger than me! The brass is guitar MIDI, as well as my MIDI guitar solo in the middle section. I added a stereo Leslie guitar part with hard left/right pans which are accentuated when the rotors are switched from fast to slow. Scott Hardy of the "Blues Cruisers" hooked his souped-up Leslie to my A-100 Hammond, which belonged to my mom, and former bandmate Tony Hines played some tasty chops at the end of the song. The RealAudio sample above is the last verse and part of the ending.
