CUT#8: "Just Another Day At The Office"
"Just Another Day At The Office"
JUST ANOTHER DAY AT THE OFFICE
(278KB RealAudio File)
-Approx. 90 Seconds DL time-
This one was also written in 1997
during a lull in studio activity (read: "paying jobs") in the month of
November. Initially it was simply a jam session stemming from getting an
opportunity to test drive a new synth. But as we played it back after the
jam it occured to me to build on it and ask former bandmate Steve Koenemann
to come in and grace the track with one of his patented jazz-fusion solo's.
The basic guide drum track is a sequence played by a Roland XP60. All the percussion
tracks are SPD-11 samples. All the other keyboard parts are played on a
Roland JX-8P. I dropped the "E" string down and played the bass
part on my Fender J/P bass into a Roland Cube 60 amp cranked almost all
the way up. I played mom's Hammond A-100 and was inspired by "Telstar" by the Tornados.
I have a poster in the studio of a first-person viewpoint situated on a ledge high above
a busy city street, looking down at the traffic below. There are
a couple of pidgeons also standing on the ledge. The caption reads: "Another Day At The Office".
This arrangement reminds me of that poster.
