Dime-A-Dozen Music Presents "OMC"

Some call it smooth or chill jazz. Others call it "mood music" or "new age". Everyone agrees it's great music to drive to or just to listen to. The name of the group is OMC and the album project is "If You Can't Beat 'Em".

This instrumental album was two years in the making. It is best described as an experiment in how music directs the musician. A group of seasoned and experienced musicians were assembled one at a time in the studio and asked to record whatever the arrangement told them to play. No other instructions were given to the players. Interestingly, each person was recorded on a different day, so no one ever got the chance to play the arrangement together, or at the same time.

A network of musician friends that share a long history of residing in the Ozarks got an opportunity to express themselves in their own element in a project that was composed from basic tracks recorded by Mark Rex (guitars/bass/keys) in his home studio.

The core of the team besides Mark are Bob Ketchum (drums/guitars/keys), Ron Miller (keys/guitar), and Jerry Bone (bass). All four players have spent the major part of their lives playing and writing music. An Eastern Arkansas player and neighbor, Gary Gazaway (stage name: "El Buho") lent his ample talent as a premier jazz trumpet player to several tracks specifically composed to highlight his instrument. Another neighbor, Tom Roady of Nashville, spent a weekend in Arkansas in the studio adding some tasty percussion chops. Finally, David Renko of The Cate Brothers Band dropped by with his sax to fill in the last remaining holes in the project.

Their individual backgrounds and credentials are too diverse and long to list here, but if you'd like to learn more you may read an article about the making of the album HERE. All of these musicians have been around the block long enough to know when they are a part of something special. They feel these tracks are indeed "special". The long process of finding just the right record label for this album has already begun. International distributors are already interested for the European marketplace.
