NEWS FROM THE WOODS

"The Sessions! The Sessions!"

Recently someone on Facebook was commenting on all the music I must have recorded in the past 40 years, which set my mind to thinking, "You know, I HAVE recorded a lot of sessions." The comment wasn't a long thread but further down the line someone asked "Yes, Bob, exactly HOW MANY sessions have you done?"….. with a smiley face at the end of the post.

I thought about it for only a second and then realize there is no earthly way I could give an exact number. There have just been too many to count. I DO keep some records on the "main" session I had scheduled because I have a database containing all of my session bookings. But there have been THOUSANDS of "drop ins"….. people who just walked in and cut a little demo or recorded one song with just vocal and guitar or piano and then walked out, never to return. I have forgotten SO MANY times that has happened and I didn't even enter the data into my month at a glance appointment book (I've been keeping them since 1974). But it got me to wondering how many of the "major sessions" I COULD account for. So I did some research (based on the "DISCOGRAPHY" page of my website) and came up with a partial list:

………And keep in mind these are just the projects that I have notes for. There must have been hundreds that were "walk ins". I can also recall many "quickie" sessions or location recordings for bands whose names I have either forgotten or never knew in the first place. And if you or your band is not listed here you have my apologies. Tell me about it and I'll make a correction……
